Police, Fire & Others Endorse Angela!

In addition to more than 300 endorsements from neighborhood leaders across District 14, I am proud to share with you that I have just received FOUR major endorsements from respected Dallas organizations: the Dallas Police Association, Dallas Fire Fighters Association, MetroTex Association of Realtors, and the Dallas AFL-CIO.

Making our neighborhoods safer has been a priority of mine since I took office, so I am deeply honored that my commitment to public safety has earned me the endorsement of both the Police and Fire Associations. “As a City Councilmember, Angela has worked with law enforcement and community leaders to help us reduce crime 30% since she took office,” said Glenn White, President of the Dallas Police Association.  “Her experience, integrity, and commitment to her community is unquestioned.”

Peter Urrutia of MetroTex Realtors cited my commitment to District 14 neighborhoods: “Angela has proven time and again she is not only committed to representing neighborhoods, but improving them, too.  No matter the street, no matter the issue, Angela tries to make District 14 better, block by block. It makes our jobs easier when we have a neighborhood advocate like Angela on the council, and we’re proud to give her our endorsement.”

“It’s important that fire fighters have strong advocates at City Hall,” said D.D. Pierce, President of the Dallas Fire Fighters Association. “Angela Hunt has been just that. She’s fought for the resources we need to keep Dallas safe and has been a great partner and friend to Dallas fire fighters. We look forward to her continued service to our city.”

In addition, in the last couple of weeks, I have received hundreds of endorsements from residents across the district, and the outpouring of support has been humbling.

From Brenda Marks in Oak Lawn saying “the council needs more Angelas” to Steve Atkinson and Ted Kinkaid calling me “a staunch ally of our LGBT community” to East Dallas resident Judith Timmerman saying “Angela’s winning combination of brains, integrity, and courage are exactly what this city needs,” — THANK YOU so much for supporting my re-election effort!

If you would like to add your endorsement to the growing list of community leaders who want to ensure that we have an experienced, independent voice at Dallas City Hall, please visit my support page. You can also support my campaign by making a contribution, putting up a yard sign, or volunteering.

Thank you to everyone for your support!

Join My Re-Election Campaign!

As your Dallas City Council representative, I want to personally thank you for your support over the past six years.

Together, we’ve been able to improve neighborhoods throughout District 14, from revitalizing Downtown and bringing renewed vibrancy to Uptown and Oak Lawn, to protecting East Dallas neighborhoods with conservation and historic districts, to implementing a $500 million renovation plan at Love Field Airport.

We’ve made our city safer, adding over 600 police officers to our streets and bringing crime down to levels not seen since the 1960s.  And most importantly, we’ve brought an independent voice to Dallas City Hall, asking the tough questions and demanding accountability.

But there is still much to be done, and that’s why I am seeking re-election to the Dallas City Council.

To ensure my re-election, I need your help and continued support.  Here’s how you can get involved:

Your contribution of time, money, and effort will help ensure my campaign is a success. With your support, I will continue to be your voice at Dallas City Hall!

Nice Shout-Out for AngelaHunt.com

AngelaHunt.com got a nice shout-out in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram over the weekend in “Elected officials could better use the Web to stay connected.”  Columnist John T. Johnson writes that at-large Arlington councilmember, Jimmy Bennett, is putting together an interactive website based on mine.  “I find it commendable that two Metroplex politicians would be among the first to implement this type of interactive communication system. I would hope that elected state and federal officials will see the merits of this over what they currently have. Their sites limit the ability to meaningfully communicate.”

Want to Collect Signatures for My Re-Election?

I’ll be running for re-election to the City Council in May, and must collect signatures to file for a place on the ballot. If you’d like to help me, you can download the form. Note that it must be printed on legal size paper, and (more importantly), only registered voters who are residents of District 14 may sign. You also have to have the petition pages notarized when you’ve finished gathering signatures (not each signature has to be notarized, just your affidavit swearing that you explained to people what they were signing).

I have to turn in the forms next week, so I’ll need to get the forms back by next Monday. Just shoot me an email at angela@angelahunt.com if you can help and I will arrange to have the forms picked up from you. I appreciate your help!

North Park Ministers’ Coalition Endorsement

Today I learned that I was selected as the North Park Ministers’ Coalition “candidate of choice” for the District 14 City Council race. The Coalition is a group of ministers from local churches who work together to improve the North Park/Love Field area in the western part of our district. In their letter of support, they state “We have selected you as our candidate of choice for the District Fourteen council seat

Briarwood – Bluffview Meet and Greet

Michelle Mew opened her beautiful Briarwood home to us to support my campaign this evening. It was terrific visiting with so many neighbors that I had met in December when I first started walking door-to-door in the district. We enjoyed great food and conversation on the porch and discussed the Wright Amendment, Love Field, the Blackwood proposal, and crime. Thanks, Michelle, for a wonderful evening.
