EDCO is a great non-profit organization, and I was pleased to be invited to their staff meeting to learn more about their efforts to provide affordable and low-cost housing to East Dallas residents.
Affordable housing is particularly important in the inner city. I am troubled by our trend of moving out lower-income residents to make way for new, more expensive development.
Homeownership in Dallas should not belong only to the wealthy, and it is imperative that the city support housing for residents at all income levels.
Last fall, I attended an Affordable Housing Summit so that I would understand state and federal programs available to assist the city with affordable housing. I am committed to working with residents to secure Community Development Block Grants to ensure affordable housing in Dallas.
