Comprehensive Plan Workshop – Farmers Market – Lower Downtown

We had another comp plan meeting tonight, this one at the Dallas Convention Center in downtown. Tonight’s meeting addressed growth around the Farmers Market and southern Downtown area. When my husband and I lived in Downtown in the late 1990s, we spent many weekends wandering around the Farmers Market. After buying our home, we’ve gotten many of our flowers and plants from the Market.

As Downtown changes, Farmers Market will have to adapt. I am committed to retaining the Farmers Market in its current location, and looking for ways to enhance the market. For example, more and more, residents are looking for organic produce that is not as readily available at grocery stores, and we can offer these specialty types of items at the Farmers Market. We can also augment and complement the Market with retail bakeries and similar vendors.
